Lucas Holcomb

Lucas Holcomb began on our All-Mountain Development Team before advancing to our Competitive Team. He loves traveling to other resorts and racing alongside his new teammates. 


According to his fourth-grade teacher, Lucas is a fantastic role model—polite, hardworking, and always putting his best foot forward in everything he does.

Sophia Lee

Sophia is on our Far West Alpine Competitive Team. She’s from Sacramento, California, and spends her weekends waking up at 4 a.m. to get to Mt. Rose for training. 


According to Sophia, “Skiing has taught me to race with my heart, to face fears with courage, and to find freedom in the journey—no matter how daunting the path ahead may seem.”

2024-25 Scholarship awards

Annabelle Hourihan

Annabelle is new to the Mt. Rose Alpine Team but has been skiing since she was three years old. 


She enjoys ski racing because of the competition, the independence, and the constant opportunity to grow. 


Annabelle is excited to see how far she can go in ski racing—whether it’s with the Mt. Rose team, her high school team, or even in college.

Francis Ennis

Francis is a first-generation skier in his family. 


His parents enrolled him in the Mt. Rose Ski Team hoping he would discover a love for outdoor sports. 


According to his coach, Francis shows remarkable dedication and sportsmanship and is always eager to help his teammates.

Jackson Barnes

Jackson has been part of the Mt. Rose Ski programs since learning to ski in Rosebuds.


 He’snow a member of our Freeride Team and has been for over four seasons. Jackson credits his passion for the sport to his father and says, “Mt. Rose Freeride has been a huge part of my life. 


From backyard rail setups to big mountain freeride comps, skiing never seems to disappoint.”

Sophia Lee

Dane Longballa

Dane is one of our youngest racers at just 10 years old. A straight-A student who loves math, Dane already dreams of becoming an Olympic Gold Medalist. 


He takes pride in all he’s learning and feels a huge sense of accomplishment when showing off his racing skills—especially when competing against other athletes.

Lucas Holcomb

Lucas Holcomb began on our All-Mountain Development Team before advancing to our Competitive Team. He loves traveling to other resorts and racing alongside his new teammates. 


According to his fourth-grade teacher, Lucas is a fantastic role model—polite, hardworking, and always putting his best foot forward in everything he does.

Casey Meier

Casey has been on our Freeride Team for three years and part of the Mt. Rose ski programs since the age of five. 


Ask Casey, and he’ll tell you that even when the team pushes him, he loves it—the coaches, the fun, and the constant challenge to improve and try new things, like landing a 360.


2023-24 Scholarship awards

Jacob Brown

Jacob Brown has been a part of the Mt Rose Competitive Team for seven seasons. He is one of our FIS athletes who spends the season traveling around the Western States competing in Alpine Racing. 


Jacob is a 3-time Far West Masters Scholarship recipient and a 3-time Far West Academic Team athlete. Last season, Jacob was one of seven Western regional athletes selected to attend the National Downhill Training Project at Copper Mountain.


Jacob is a student at North Star. He chose online school to focus on ski racing.

Cole Hogan

Cole Hogan is a current student at Galena High School. He has been a long time member of the Mt. Rose teams since learning to ski. 


Cole has been a member of our Freeride Team for the last 3 years. He is also on the Galena Ski team and learning the alpine racing side of ski racing. 


According to Cole, "The Freeride Program brings so much joy to me whenever I take part in it. Even on the not-so-good days, it is fun to be out there with everybody".

Olivia Scott

Olivia has been a part of the Mt. Rose programs for nine years and is currently a student at Galena High School. 


Oliva is a part of the Far West Competitive Team and the Galena Ski Team. We have watched Olivia's results improve each season, and she was invited to the Spring Select camp for the Far West Division of racing. 


Olivia credits ski racing for helping to trust her abilities and herself.

Sydney Strominger

Sydney Strominger has been a part of the Mt. Rose Competitive Team and the Bishop Manogue Ski Team for the last 4 years. 


We are excited to announce that Sydney will attend Washington University this fall. She credits skiing and the team to making the core memories of her life that she will always cherish. 


We will miss her being a part of the Mt. Rose Team, but we know she will find incredible success in anything she chooses to do.

Sirisha Vuppalapati

Sirisha is a 4-year member of the Mt. Rose team, a current student at Galena High School, and a member of the Galena Ski Team. 


Sirisha originally started on our Freeride team but quickly found an interest in our Competitive Race Team. This was where Sarisha learned the motivation and confidence to begin to improve her skiing skills. 


She credits her coaches for helping her improve in skiing. 


Her goal is to make a podium finish in her racing career.
